Portsmouth West High School consistently honors local history and students in Mrs. Callihan’s U.S. History class continued this tradition for Veteran’s Day by recognizing our Scioto County Vietnam veterans. After studying the Vietnam War, students created a memorial project presenting information on each of the 25 Scioto County Vietnam veterans who didn’t return home. The public is invited to view the memorial, which will be in place through Sunday, Nov. 12.
In addition to the memorial, Portsmouth West High School celebrated Veteran's Day early by recognizing the memorial monuments that were placed near our football field. The WWII memorial was originally housed at the old high school but has now found its new home with the Korean War Memorial and Vietnam War Memorial monuments surrounding the flagpole.
