Many students at PWHS are enrolled in College Credit Plus (CCP) at Shawnee State University, this program allows many students the opportunity to receive college credit while still in high school for FREE!

Ohio’s new College Credit Plus program (formerly post-secondary) can help you earn college and high school credits at the same time by taking college courses from community colleges or Universities.

The purpose of this program is to promote rigorous academic pursuits and to provide a wide variety of options to college-ready students in grades 7-12. With College Credit Plus, classes at public colleges or Universities are free. That means no cost for tuition, books, or fees. If you choose to attend a private college or university, you may have limited costs.  Public school students may now take summer classes as well.

To be eligible to participate in the dual enrollment classes, students must have a certain score on the ACT exam or take an accuplacer test at Shawnee State University. Freshman students, that meet the requirements, may enroll in the Dual Enrollment Computer I course at PWHS, and receive three college credits before they start 10th grade.

The following classes are SSU courses that are taught here at PWHS by our teaching staff:

Mrs. Blevins - MATH 2110 Calculus

Mr. Bradford - STAT 1150 Statistics, MATH 1200 Algebra, MATH 1250 Trigonometry

Ms. Edwards -  ENGL 1101 Composition & Discourse

Mrs. Tieman - MUSI Piano & Music Theory

Mrs. Wilkinson - BUIS 1010 Computer Applications

Students have taken courses at SSU as well.
