As of January 1, Portsmouth West boys Varsity basketball team is 1-2 in conference play but 2-5 overall. being the 5th team out of 8 in the SOC conference. They have multiple strong types defenses, holding teams to around 50 points. The team struggles on offense though, and have lost many close games, one being in overtime to Valley. They plan to keep up the strong defense, and try new things on offense to try to score more to win. They are one of the more athletic teams in the SOC and have multiple weapons, but still lack on offense and are correcting that so they will start to win. After hard work in the gym during Christmas break, they plan to start over and begin a winning season in the new year.
