The Washington-Nile Local School District is honored to introduce our Valedictorian and Salutatorian for the 2017 graduating class of Portsmouth West High School.

  

Our Valedictorian, TJ Hoggard, is the son of Tom and Annette Hoggard. He maintained a 4.0 grade point average and will receive an honors diploma. He also received the Presidential Award for Academic Excellence. While in high school, he participated in the Beta Club, and was on the soccer and football teams. In soccer, he received all-district honorable mention, all-district and 2nd team all-conference his junior year, and he was named to the first team all-district and 1st team all-SOC his senior year. He also received the Archie Griffin sportsmanship award from the Ohio High School Athletic Association and was a Wendy’s High School Heisman candidate. Last Monday, May 22, during our Scholars Banquet, TJ received the Monk Sportsmanship Award, the Harry James Memorial Scholarship, and the Shawnee State Scholar’s Award. TJ is an active member of the Mabert Road Baptist Church. He has been accepted to Shawnee State University where he received the SSU Scholar Award. He will be majoring in Plastics Engineering.

Our Salutatorian, Terra Butcher, is the daughter of Terry Butcher and Annenta Newman. She achieved a 3.98 grade point average and will receive an honors diploma. She also received the Presidential Award for Academic Excellence. While in high school she participated in the Beta Club, Bass Fishing Club and Key Club. She was a member of the volleyball, basketball and softball teams. She also received the Archie Griffin sportsmanship award from the Ohio High School Athletic Association and was a Wendy’s High School Heisman candidate. Last Monday, May 22, during our Scholars Banquet, Terra received the Angela Arnett “Diamond” Memorial Scholarship and the Shawnee State University Success Award. She will attend Shawnee State University in the Fall majoring in the medical field.
